Digital Cutout Animation Tutorial

A simple and terrible tutorial about how to do digital cutout animation using After Effects and Photoshop.

I totally forgot to mention the importance of setting anchor points for different layers.

Anchor points allow you to set points of rotation for your layers in your comp. To set anchor points, select your layer, and then use the ‘pan behind tool’ to adjust the position of the anchor point. To see the result, select that layer and press ‘r’, and then move the rotation slider accordingly.

This should give you a real basic idea of how to animate using layered PSD files. It’s all about setting parent layers and anchor points, and then moving your timeline slider to different positions and setting the rotation to new properties.
